Summary

Kathleen Opal practices exclusively in the area of family law and counsels clients on a wide range of divorce-related issues, including custody/allocation of parental responsibilities, analysis of complex financial matters, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, contribution to college education, enforcement matters, and the disposition of marital and non-marital assets.

While attending law school, Katie served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Leida J. Gonzalez-Santiago in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Domestic Relations Division. She also served as a legal extern in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, Juvenile Justice Bureau.

During law school, Katie was elected to serve on the Student Bar Association Board of Governors as the Chicago Bar Association Representative, 2009-2010, and the American Bar Association Representative, 2010-2011. Upon graduation, Katie was named to Chicago-Kent’s Bar & Gavel Society for students who have distinguished themselves through outstanding service to the law school, the community and the legal profession.
