Jason Pica

Associate

Summary

Undoubtedly believing that clients who seek his legal assistance often need more than a skilled lawyer, Jason provides customized attention to his clients having represented clients in all aspects of divorce and family law, orders of protection, DCFS appeals, adoptions, and guardianship of minors. Jason believes the practice of divorce and family law requires a practical, results-based approach, coupled with direct and candid honesty. In addition to direct representation of clients, Jason also serves as a mediator, facilitating a structured resolution process resulting in a thoughtfully crafted agreement.

During graduate school, Jason was Co-Editor-in-Chief of Praxis, the student-run academic journal and a counselor to at-risk youth in Chicago. Having previously provided psychotherapeutic services to disadvantaged youth, Jason takes special interest in cases involving mental health challenges. Jason’s graduate research has been presented and published in national academic conferences and tier one academic journals, which led him to co-present to the Office of Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention of the U.S. Department of Justice.

During law school, Jason served as a judicial extern in the Circuit Court of Cook County – Domestic Relations Division as well as a Court Appointed Special Advocate in the Child Protection Division, advocating for the best interests of youth in foster care, and as a law clerk in two prestigious divorce and family law firms.

Beyond this, Jason is currently an American Bar Association Section of Family Law Fellow for the 2022-2024 program with active participation in the Diversity Committee, focusing on increasing diversity of family lawyers across the nation and providing access to justice to traditionally underserved diverse communities.
