Martin Sliwinski concentrates his practice on various matters related to family law, including but not limited to high conflict divorce cases, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, and complex financial analysis.
Martin served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Helaine L. Berger in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Domestic Relations Division in Chicago. He closely assisted the Judge on editing and refining court opinions and judgments, wrote formal memorandums, made recommendations on the merits of motions, and researched Illinois statutes and case law as it pertained to various pleadings.
Martin joined DWK as a law clerk in 2018 while pursuing his Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law. While in law school, Martin received the CALI Award of Excellence for the highest grades in the Justice and Technology Practicum, Securities and Regulations, and International Comparative Antitrust. Martin also elected to serve as treasurer of the Child and Family Law Society and became certified in business law. During his time in law school, Martin volunteered at the Domestic Violence Courthouse in Chicago, where he assisted domestic violence victims with emergency orders of protection. Upon graduation, Martin became an associate attorney with DWK.
